Pop star Will Young has added Falmouth to his new live tour, with a show later this year.

It is described as “an intimate evening of music and stories” featuring “stripped-back performances” of his best known hits, plus songs from his forthcoming new album Light It Up.

Due to “overwhelming demand” for other dates, the singer will be coming to Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion on Thursday, November 21 as part of his Light It Up UK tour.

Tickets go on sale this Tuesday, May 7, at 10am. Visit the singer’s website www.willyoung.co.uk for details.

Will Young rose to fame after winning the first series of ITV talent contest Pop Idol in 2002.

His double A-sided debut single "Anything Is Possible" / "Evergreen" was released two weeks after the show's finale and became the fastest-selling debut single in the UK.

Will also placed fifth place in World Idol performing the single "Light My Fire," written by the band the Doors.

He has won two Brit Awards and has sold an estimated eight million albums worldwide.

Alongside his career as a singer, he has also acted in film, on stage and in television series, and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance in the 2013 London revival of the musical Cabaret.

Will is no stranger to the south west, having studied politics at Exeter University before moving to London.

Speaking about the forthcoming tour, which kicks off in September, he said: “I’m very excited to be going to a lot of places I haven’t been. I wanted to go to smaller venues so I could properly get around the country rather than just playing the big cities.”

The forthcoming album Light It Up, which is out on August 9, is described as return to “joyous pop”.
